Phthalate not being used in Number One (chrome leather)
All Colors phthalate free
The signature material of Hashimoto Industry “Number One” (chrome leather) is produced without phthalic acid in the pigment.
Phthalic acid is used for the purpose of providing flexibility in the resin contained in the pigment. ( plasticizer purpose)
In leather, the use of phthalic acid creates flexibility in the pigment on the surface, so it is still used today in many leather products.
However, with certain phthalates there is a possibility they contain “Phthalate Ethyllium” an environmental hormone substance known to cause allergy and infertility. As a result, its use is regulated under the “REACH Regulation” the Eco standard in Europe.
In future “Number One” (chrome leather), will be phthalate free for all phases of production..
